Croque Monsieur


(SERVES 1)
  • 2 slices bread
  • 10 ml/2 tsp low-fat spread
  • 25 g/1 oz/2 tbsp low-fat Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 thin slice lean ham (from a packet)
Spread one side of each bread slice with 5ml/1 tsp low-fat spread. Put one slice, spread side down. On a board. Top with the cheese and ham. Cover with the remaining bread slice, spread side up. Fry (sauté) or grill (broil) until golden on both sides, pressing down with a fish slice during cooking. Serve cut into quarters.
